Kathmandu, 2018
After drawing Mumbai, I knew I wanted draw another city, but I wasn't sure which one; until I set foot in Kathmandu. Similar chaos, crowd and smells but what I truly attracted me was all the electrical cables everywhere. The city was broken from an earthquake, and they haven't been able to fix all the broken buildings. Large beams were holding buildings up, looking like they can fall apart at the slightest wind. Yet, everyone was going about their business without skipping a beat. Electricity would cut off every day, for an hour or so.

City has a quite a few notable highlights and the Monkey Temple was certainly one of them. In the drawing, it's the Temple in top-center area, above the rest of the city. I didn't start drawing Kathmandu, months after leaving the city. While I was there, I decided to take as many reference photos as I could, knowing I'd be drawing it later. Below. I've included a few of those reference photos, as well as some close ups at full resolution.
